Architect Pavilion - Interior Design

Date

Spring 2023

This first project for Interior Design asked for a pavilion inspired by a building designed by a famous architect. Inside, the inspiring work for the pavilion must be displayed alongside four pictures of the building and a biography and timeline of the architect's work. All pavilions must also include a seating area and fit within a 75' x 75' plot.

Sam chose to base his pavilion off of the famous "Gwathmey Residence." In this house, Charles Gwathmey emphasized the use of volumes and the "carving out" of their insides. Sam chose to translate this principle along with Gwathmey's love of framing into his model. Openness and flow throughout the exhibit were also important themes of this pavilion.
