Three Piece Furniture Set - Furniture II

The prompt for this assignment was to take a previous work and create a furniture set to match the project. Sam selected his bus stop designed the previous semester, featured on the portfolio page, as it was his most substantial project completed by the beginning of this class.

This three piece set of furniture—stool, side table, and coat rack—takes the angular and geometric form of Sam's bus stop and translates it to a wood medium. The concept of lines meeting at specific points to create a very cohesive and connected work was a focus throughout this project. Additionally, the "leaning" effect present in his bus stop was a motif Sam included in each of the three pieces.

Each piece of the set is cut out of 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood 4x4s with a CNC cutter with three 4x4s being used in total. Each piece can be assembled and disassembled by hand and is flat-packable. The price, weight, production time, assembly time, and shipping were all factors considered during the design process.
